The terroir, the unique combination of climate and soil, is the most beautiful and important tool for the winemaker.
The Thermenregion (Thermal Region) is located south of Vienna in an area that provides a perfectly balanced terroir. Well regulated influences from the pannonian basin determine the climate from the south and east while the Anninger mountains block the cold winds from the north and west.
There is a variety of well irrigated and warmed soils. They range from lime interspersed soil to sandy clay to loamy bentonite and to alluvial rubble. Its terroir makes the Thermenregion one of the few wine growing regions in the world able to produce both noble white wines and full-bodied red wines, as well as elegant sweet wines of world class quality.
These unique traits of the Thermenregion combined with the knowledge of the winemakers lead to the creation of wines with an independent, complex character suitable as "meditation wines" as well as being able to be enjoyed alongside various delicacies.
The best wine makers of the Thermenregion succeed in crafting outstanding wines with a splendid balance of body, fruit and depth with supreme elegance.
