The grapes for this great Zierfandler grow on over 45 years old vines in the "Mandel-Höh" vineyard. For more than 175 years owned by the Stadlmann family, this vineyard presents one of the best and most valuable places to cultivate wine in the Thermenregion. A hill side gently exposed to the south-east, rich in mineral and characterised by prehistoric muschelkalk (shell limestone) provides the ideal place for crafting such a wine full of character year by year.
With the "Mandel-Höh" the Stadlmann estate has firmly established its reputation as a producer of exceptionally elegant wines which constantly create excitment in the international wine trade. According to a number of international wine experts this wine is one of the best made from the rare Zierfandler grape.
The fine acid core in the "Mandel Höh" Zierfandler enhances its rewarding maturation, preserving the freshness and youth of the wine during its development period over more than 15 years. Together with its full body and lush flavours, this wine develops its distinctive and harmonious character.
Bright golden yellow in colour with notes of dried fruits, exotic tangerine and mango on the nose. Flavours of lush qince, pome/stone-fruit and pink grapefruit combine with a gentel spice of white almond and honey blossom to enhance the finess on the palate. Fine minerality supports a complex and substantial texture and the charming sweetness is well balanced by a tender acidity revealing a vibrant elegance and depth in the wine.
